The only thing people remember about Lot’s wife is that she looked back.
There are 2 things people remember you for:
1. The pain you caused, and 2. The gain you brought.
Luke 17: 32 – Remember Lot’s wife.
Who was Lot?
He was Abraham’s brother who had nothing to do with the covenant between Abraham and God; but Abraham took him along because he was his kin and he felt a responsibility towards him. Abraham paid for this.

Man carry power, women carry influence! Lot’s wife influenced his decision to part ways with Abraham, Delilah influenced Samson, Jezebel influenced Ahab against Elijah (I Kings 19:1).
Lot’s wife influenced him to start his own nation – since Abraham could do it, so could he, right? Wrong! What Lot and his wife didn’t know was even though Abraham asked Lot to choose the side of land he wanted, he was only subletting to him. All of the land was already Abraham’s by God’s promise and covenant with him.
When Lot left Abraham, he left his covering – may you not walk from under your covering in Jesus’ name!
By the time God had had enough with Sodom and Gomorrah, he took permission from Abraham via the angels’ visit because even that part was an extension of Abraham’s inheritance.
Lot’s wife looked back at the last minute and she turned to a pillar of salt. Her daughters must have looked back to see her turn to pillar of salt… but why was it just her that turned? Motive. She looked back on her gold!
There are three kinds of women:
1. Women married as trophies for the men, because of their beauty, brains etc. Men marry them to prove a point or because they were “given.” Example was Michal, the younger daughter of Saul and David’s first wife (1 Samuel 18:20–27) .
2. Women that force themselves on men. A perfect example is Abigail (I Sam. 25).
3. Women the man willfully pursue and marry. Example is Bathsheba. She was married but David loved and pursued her.
From all of these women, you need to ask yourself – what kind of woman do I want to be?
Prov. 21: 9 – “It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.” Other translations call this kind of woman nagging, quarrelsome and fault-finding.
Ladies, fault finding should not be your agenda, path finding should be. – @pastorblessingo — Click to tweet
Prov. 19: 13 – “A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.”
Contentious wives give their husbands a continuous drop in finances, spiritual lives, health etc.
Prov. 27: 15 – “A quarrelsome wife is like the dripping of a leaky roof in a rainstorm.”
Your place as a woman is to give the man peace. God’s definition of “help” is the woman; and if a woman must fulfill that purpose she must give that help from the standpoint of submission.
The kind of woman you should aim to become is the one talked about in Prov. 31: 10-15. “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies…”
She is of noble character, virtuous, intelligent; her husband trusts and has full confidence in her; she comforts, encourages and does him good; she develops with her hands and works hard; she prepares physical and spiritual food for her household.
I pray for you today, receive the heart, grace and strength to become the kind of woman God meant you to be in Jesus’ name.
